Role: Lead DesignerDeveloper: Buzz Monkey SoftwarePublisher: Disney / PlaydomPlatform: FacebookYear: 2010Built on the framework of Social City, a breakaway success on Facebook, ESPN U: College Town was designed to leverage the synergy between Playdom, Disney, ESPN, and Buzz Monkey, taking aim at the explosive growth happening in social games at the time. I stepped into the (previously unfilled) Lead Design role scant weeks before launch, but boardroom battles between the various stakeholders kept the timetable and priorities under constant flux. It was a great lesson in staying on target and true to a game's promise to its customers.
